Salle de spectacle la Passerelle et centre social la Moisson, Florange

Description

To enrich the spatial size of the cultural and social center, as well as broaden the center’s reach, the city of Florange introduced a new civic complex with the ambition of uniting both within a cohesive architectural framework. The performing arts architecture restructures an extension of the existing buildings. The civic architect conceived and created a harmony hall and multi-purpose spaces. The series of flexible, multi-purpose spaces effectively doubles the capacity of the former concert hall. The performing arts architecture establishes a distinct architectural identity that resonates with Florange’s industrial legacy, thus embodying a restrained yet resilient design language anchored in durability and openness.

To accommodate and interconnect the programs of the two centers within a unified site, the performing arts architecture orchestrates two compact, interlocking extensions that compose a legible and cohesive ensemble. Their volumetric articulation negotiates the site’s existing geometries, establishing clear urban and spatial hierarchies while reinforcing the dialogue between solid and void.

The civic architect ensures that each programmatic entity maintains its spatial and functional autonomy through dedicated access points, clearly differentiated entry sequences, and independent vertical and horizontal circulation cores, thereby guaranteeing operational clarity and separation of uses. Within this framework, the heritage building renovation integrates a system of articulated thresholds, glazed and permeable foyers, and intermediate transitional spaces, introducing controlled porosity across the ensemble, enhancing visual continuity, spatial depth and inter-programmatic interaction.

These calibrated spatial interfaces structure movement and perception, fostering social exchange while maintaining functional independence, and ultimately reframe the complex as an open civic landscape that mediates seamlessly between built form, public realm, and collective use.
